Why you should turn your email into Facebook posts

You’re a busy person. You’re running a business and maybe working a day job, going to school, or taking care of your family. You have little time to do the same work twice, so let your email do it for you.

When you turn an email into a Facebook post, you’re saving precious time that you can spend working on new products, brainstorming business ideas, or eating ice cream (we support all of these choices).

Also, it’s just plain smart to share your email on Facebook because you can show your content to a whole new audience –– an audience that isn’t necessarily on your email list. And maybe some of your customers who do receive your email don’t check their email religiously, but are on Facebook daily.

With 2 billion daily active users (yes, that’s billion with a b) spending an average of 43 minutes per day, Facebook is a great place to reshare your email as posts. Because, let’s face it, with that many people spending that much time on Facebook, you have an audience just waiting for new content –– your content.

How to turn your email into Facebook posts

Create and design an email campaign in your your Square Marketing tab. On the Audience page, ensure that the Facebook setting is enabled to share on your Facebook page by selecting Share on Facebook.

At this point, take a moment to preview your post. It might help to consider the design and length of the email to ensure it’s appropriate for a Facebook post. If you have an image or coupon in the email, it will be transferred to the post. Once you’ve confirmed and set the campaign live, your email is pulling double duty. If you have to make a change to the post later on, you can make edits directly in Facebook.

How to email a Facebook post

  1. Firstly go to your Facebook Page and find the post you want to share.
  2. Then click on the time or date that the post was shared.
  3. The post will then open up in a pop-up window.
  4. Copy the URL from your browser and paste it into your email.

How To Import Your Email List in Facebook and Create a Custom Audience

Step 1: Export your email list and get it all together in a spreadsheet or document. Does not matter what size it is or what shape its in. The bigger it is the better.

So export out of your contact manager, gather your business cards, scrape your personal email, even grab friends and family.

Remember this is Facebook, you are not just advertising for the sale but you are also advertising for shares and likes! Both of which can lead to future sales.

Step 2: Login to Facebook and get into your ads manager (if you have not done this yet reference this post).

Step 3: Click on the “Ads Manager” ico

Step 9: You can upload a file if you like or you can copy and paste.

If your list is huge better upload. If not copy and paste will do just fine. Paste it in and create audience.

After uploading your customer information, name your audience something you will remember.

Pro Tip: This needs to be a regular repeated act

Pro Tip: This needs to be a regular repeated activity. Get more emails and import them in batches as you go.

Submit Post to Facebook Wall (index.php)

Include the fbConfig.php file to connect Facebook API and get the access token.

If FB access token ($accessToken) is available, the following will happen.

  • Access token will be stored in the session that will be used for next time API calls.
  • Post message, name, link, description, and the picture will be submitted to Facebook wall.
  • Post submission status will be shown.

If FB access token ($accessToken) is not available, the Facebook Login URL will be generated and the user would be redirected to the FB login page.

How to Link to Facebook Posts On Mobile

If you’re on a mobile device, like an iPhone or iPad or Android phone, it’s going to be slightly different. That’s because most of us are likely using a dedicated app from Facebook when browsing Facebook posts. And if you’re within the Facebook app, there’s no direct access to the link for a post.

UPDATE! There’s now a way to get the link for a post right from within the Facebook app. I can’t say when this update was baked in since Facebook no longer elaborates on what gets changed with each app iteration. But now, if you’re looking at a post in your Facebook stream, and you want to grab a link to that post, simply tap the Share button and tap the Copy Link option at the end. That will put a link to the post in your clipboard which you can then hold-tap and paste into any other app or email.

Alternatively, you can use the older method of calling up the desktop version of Facebook in a mobile browser, but why would you want to?

Instead, you’ll need to open Facebook using a mobile browser like Safari or Chrome. Log in as normal (and click through the Save Browser question if you get it — a security precaution from Facebook).

Now, before you look for the post you want to link to, open the left menu by clicking on the three bar icon and scroll all the way to the bottom. Tap on the “desktop site” link to re-open Facebook in the normal desktop interface, rather than the reduced mobile version. While, technically, you could still get to individual URLs for specific posts while viewing Facebook’s mobile version, the URLs will indicate that it’s mobile and send recipients to the mobile version, even if they’re on desktop. It’s better to send them to the full desktop URL and allow their browser to detect their device automatically.

The display will likely be terribly small at this point, so you can zoom in if you need to, but you’re now able to link to Facebook Posts using the method outlined above.

Linking to Facebook Notes is next.

Facebook SDK for PHP v5.0

All Facebook PHP SDK files are included in the facebook-php-sdk/ directory, place the facebook-php-sdk/ folder into the root directory. You don’t need to download it separately, Facebook SDK v5 is included in our source code.

How to send a Facebook video to text message

  • Go to Facebook Page and find the post you want to share.
  • Then click share from the bottom right or on the time or date that the post was shared if Facebook’s functions aren’t working as expected.
  • The post will then open up in a pop-up window.
  • Copy the URL from your browser and paste into your text message on your computer or email that link to your yourself and copy and paste from there.

Next steps
